Hallelujah...

This past week the kids have been at camp.
The camp was at a church called Perimeter. It is the biggest church I have ever seen in my life. Well, it doesn't look like a church at all, more like an office complex with a parking lot that can hold a couple of thousand cars.
Last year I debated whether to send the kids or not given it is at a church and they do have so called bible study for 20 minutes every day, but I decided it couldn't hurt them, so off they went.
Oh my!!
Today I went to pick them up and attend the last assembly where some of the groups showed off what they did in the past week. First we sang 2 songs about Jesus and how great he is. These weren't your traditional hymns, they were up beat, almost cult-like speaking in tongues songs. Then we prayed and then the show started.
After the show we sang some more songs and prayed again and it was all very nice, but very born again like and honestly, it was way too much. It was very forced.
Well, the kids really liked the camp and Lucas proudly declared that he wants to be a Christian because he believes in both God and Jesus, but when I told him that meant no more Hanukkah presents he went, "Wait a minute..."
They are already talking about wanting to go there again next year, and I don't really mind, but I know that it is not a church I will ever set foot in to attend a service.
I prefer a small church, traditional hymns and lots of reflection time, not up beat Jesus songs, disco balls and dancing.
