Here are some new pictures of Rufus. He is quite the comfortable dog. He spends a lot of time hanging out, taking naps, dreaming of dog biscuits and other treats. In the bottom picture he just got done taking a shower. I thought it would be really hard to bathe him alone, but again I was happily surprised. I carried him into the shower stall, closed the doors, asked him to sit and proceeded to shower and shampoo him with no problem at all. He is so fluffy and crimped after a bath and he smells good too.
Today I also took off the tape of one of the prongs on his collar for the electric fence I had installed. It sounds babaric, but don't worry, it's really not. If he goes within 3 ft of the perimeter of the yard, he will get a light shock to remind him to stay back. For the past two days I have been training him on a leash going near the edge and a light beep sounds and I would pull him back and praise him.
Today he will actually get a light shock. I just took him out and he got shocked once and then refused to go anywhere near the perimeter of the yard, so I guess it works. By Sunday he should be able to run aroung with no leash at all.
Well, while Rufus is off in doggie dream land I am going to hop on the treadmill for a mile or two.
