As we were leaving the flat, we heard commotion from down below. Eager to meet anyone, we hurried down the stairs and came upon a tiny, very old woman.
She introduced herself and before we knew it, we were invited to come back after 5 (she was on her way out to hear her granddaughter play the bagpipes!! The things I never thought I would hear) for a glass of wine. We said thank you very much and off we went for the days adventure.
We went to climb to the top of Mt Holyrood to sit in Arthur's Seat. Never have I seen anything that spectacular. It's unbelievable to have all this nature smack in the middle of a city. We made it to the top and today we can't move:)
A quick lunch at a cafe and back home for a nap.
At 5.15 we ventured downstairs to meet Mrs. McWilliam. We brought a small bouquet of flowers which she thought was lovely. We had a glass of wine and a good chat about life in Scotland, children, her flat etc. Her flat was amazing. And interesting. Her bedroom was connected to the living room only divided by a bathtub!! Of course I got this mental image of this old woman lounging in the tub in the middle of her living room:)
At 7 we went to the Stockbridge Taphouse to watch the US-England game. It was great fun and we met a bunch of locals. Joel is still getting used to the stronger beer here, so by the time we walked home, it was a very very chatty Joel next to me. I don't think he'll be feeling too good today.
Today we are setting off on a "Let's find a place for Katrine to play tennis" trip. I am in serious need of some tennis!!
Siochaint!!
