Vacation

Or holiday as they say here in the U.K.
We just got back from 2 1/2 weeks in the U.S. It was nice.
We flew into Atlanta which has the most horrible airport in the world. Not that I have been to every airport in the world, but I doubt there is another one as awful as that.
We got our luggage, got the rental car and set off to Florida. We drove for about 2 hours and decided to pull over for the night. It took us a while to find a hotel, everything was fully booked due to spring break, but we finally "lucked" out at some random not very nice motel with a giant spider in the shower!
Next morning we headed off to Siesta Key, Florida.
It was sooooooo nice to see Joanne again. And her family. But mostly Joanne:) We got settled in the house and went to the beach. And that's what we did for the next week. Slept, ate, drank, swam, slept, ate, drank, swam. Very very relaxing and beautiful surroundings. It was hot and we all got a nice tan.
Saturday morning we got up, said our "see you later's" and headed to Savannah. We spent part of Sunday there and I have always wanted to go there and I was so disappointed!! It just wasn't this magical place I had made up in my mind. In fact, it reminded me a lot of Memphis which wasn't great either.
Back in the car and off to Edisto Beach Island, South Carolina. Fun week with the family. We celebrated Bubbles' 70th bday, we ate, we drank, we slept and I swam. That's right, I got in those waves. It was nice. We also rode bikes and then we ate some more.
Sunday morning it was back to Atlanta and we got to spend approximately 29 hours in our old neighborhood. It was great to see friends and the kids had a hard time saying goodbye again, but we were all ready to go home. Joel was anxious to go to work and I was anxious to get back to the city. 29 hours in suburbia seems to be just enough for me:)
Now we're back home, very jet lagged and the washing machine is on duty to make sure we have clean clothes for Friday when we go to Manchester for the Easter weekend. And that's it for now. No more travels, thank you very much.
It was very different to go away with children who are now old enough to not be watched constantly. It was relaxing and we all enjoyed it.
Have a good easter out there and take care.
