We are here!!
We almost made it without getting into a fight, but it wouldn't be a "Rubenstein" trip if nothing happened:) Had a bit too much luggage, but after some re-arranging and the purchase of a not so beautiful turqoise carry on, we managed to get everything on the plane without paying extra.
Landed in Edinburgh right on time and 3 minutes later had our luggage. That's what happens when there are all of 3 luggage carrousels:)
In to a cab and off to pick up the key to our apartment where we will be staying for up to 2 months. Get to the apartment building and realize that our flat is on the top floor and there's no elevator. Well, 71 steps later we unlock the door to find the most charming flat. 71 steps later 4 more times and we have all our luggage in there too:) We also have sore behinds:)
After some unpacking we decide to go grocery shopping. I quickly find out that I need one of those little "senior citizen" carts that I can wheel some groceries home in. What a sight that'll be!!
We have a key to the private garden across the street and it's really pretty. Looking forward to spending many afternoons there for the next 2 months.
Next door to our apartment building (which is from 1790!!) is an old church that is now a gym. So after 4 years in the bible belt I can now officially say I go to church. Who would've thunk it!!
We went to bed at 10 pm, so exhausted it didn't even face us that it was still day light and there are no blinds. Woke up at 5 am to day light. Wonder if it was ever dark??
Joel went to work and I set off to explore. Walked all morning, spoke to 5 different estate agents, sat in a cafe pretending I wasn't all alone in a new city, and even pretended to have a conversation on my cell phone.
Funny how when you are all alone in a new city you notice everyone else out with their friends....soon that WILL be me. I hope.
Oh, when I woke up this morning I turned on the telly (Figured I should start using the local language) and after watching the news in Gaelic I watched a music video that in the corner had a sign language person grooving along while signing...........
Once I get my own computer up and running (right now I'm in an internet cafe much like the ones you see on an episode of Law and Order - SVU) I am going to make over the blog and rename it The Kilted Kat.
Peace out for now.

LOL. Glad to hear your safe and sound. Gee now instead of long walks (6.7 miles yesterday) I now am going to have to find a step machine!! But you know I'd climb any mountain to see you! :) Before you know it, you'll be the social butterfly of Edinburgh. Luv ya! <3

By the way I like the new name Kilted Kat! :) S.
Godt at hore at I er ankommet uden de store problemer. Glaeder mig til at se billeder af jeres nye hverdag. Haaber at I hurtigt foler at I er en del af befolkningen.
Kilted Kat is far to easy a moniker for u to assume. How's about Lady Loch's. Ahh, but alas you may have never sampled the Pittsburghian holiday treat from whence the play on words arose.
Not a fan of Lady Loch's. Maybe just "News from Nessie" or "Kathaggis".
Hey Kat! I love the Kilted Kat for your new blog name! Glad to hear you all made it over safe and sound. Kirsten emailed Emma some pics of your new apt. and they've been in touch via email quite a bit this week. Can't wait to hear more about your week once you get a little more settled. I saw Lilly walking Rufus the other day - Rufus looked happy : ) Miss you -
