stay on the wrong side of the road...................that was the chant for today as we took our first UK drive. But let's rewind a bit and see what happened on Friday.
Didn't sleep a wink between Thursday and Friday, so when I did fall asleep Friday morning I didn't get up till 11.15. Off to see the first flat of the day. It was awful. No luck there.
Took a loooong walk to see the next flat at the other end of the city. Hadn't really thought about living in the West End, but the pictures of the flat were so pretty.
The flat was gorgeous. It's in an old old building, but the flat itself is completely renovated with brand new everything. 4 bedrooms which means we would have a spare room for storage:) Only downside: it's a fourth floor walk up!! I loved it and tomorrow I will go check out the school for the area (I know the school offers Gaelic and it's mandatory to play the harp!!)
Then it was off to see a house located on the other side of town, about 30 minutes walk from the city centre. Again, I loved it, but Joel thought it was too far away.
Saturday we went to open a bank account and then off to the mobile store for a phone for me. Of course I want another iphone and lucky for me they're free!! The contract is for 2 yrs and the phone is free and the monthly payment is less than half of the U.S. Oh, did I mention they'll buy back my $50 refurbished iphone for £180!!! Sounds good to me.
Then I took Joel by the flat and we explored the area. It's literally a 5 minute walk from his office. The area is okay, not as cozy as the one we originally were looking at. There is a big leisure center close by with a cinema, bowling, casino and a fitness center. Hopefully tomorrow we can go see the flat together.
The afternoon was spent napping in Princes Street Gardens. :)
We went out to a late Mexican dinner where they didn't give you chips, but popcorn!! Interesting, but good. I kept waiting for the movie to begin.
Today we took our first drive out to the country side. We went to see Linlithgow Palace and Blackness Castle. Very impressive and pretty even though we got our first taste of true Scottish summer weather - cold and rainy. Joel did the driving and I have to admit I was a little scared. But he managed and we made it back in one piece after having a lovely Sunday Roast at the local pub, Four Marys, in Linlithgow.
The country side was amazing. Sheep and cows everywhere. Saw a cow who must've thought it was a giraffe as he was stretching his neck and eating from a tree!!
