Today I set off for my first job interview in a very long time.
I figured it would be good experience even if I wasn't terribly interested in the job. But hey, money is money and with a house still unsold................
So off I go in my finest suit.
The job called for a native Danish speaker with English as a second language.
As soon as I got there I was greeted and told I had to take a Danish test to make sure I actually speak Danish. To do that they got a Danish person to sit and talk with me for a couple of minutes.
So picture this:
Danish girl is in one chair, I'm in a chair opposite her. 3 feet behind us are her supervisor and the guy I'm interviewing with. They clearly do not understand what we are saying. Or more likely, what Danish girl is saying. She starts off by saying, "Unless you really really need the money, you shouldn't work here. It's a terrible company, they don't treat people well and I hate it, but I have no choice right now"
Okay then. How's that for a start. As she is saying this I am trying to hide my disbelief. I mean, her supervisor is right there plus another manager. I'm thinking it's a trick, that maybe she was told to say that to see if I would tell on her..........
5 minutes later she is done telling me how much she hates it there and that she is quitting soon and moving back to DK.
I go off for the actual interview which was fine. Just your standard interview "what would you do.....have you ever been in a situation.......what are your strengths..........blah blah blah"
The job actually didn't sound that bad and I have to admit I liked the place.
I was thinking to myself, do I say something to this guy or just forget about Danish girl?
In the end I told the recruiter about it and she was shocked.
I told her I wasn't, that things like that always happen to me.
We'll see if I get the job.

Also welcome you!
Hey, you should not complain, as you might be the only one in Ireland at the moment who found a job opening ;-)
I would take the job, just to see if it really sucks that much...you can always quit.....
And we can read more funny stories about it :-)

Kat - I'm cracking up at this. VERY funny! Sort of like a Seinfeld episode. miss you! s.
I can't believe you told the recruiter - the girl tried to warn YOU and was doing something nice for YOU. Why would you ever tell? What did you gain from that?
Mette, I'm in Scotland, not Ireland.
Kim, I decided to tell because it's not terribly important for me to get the job, but there might be some poor soul coming in there for a job interview who would be so shocked by this and never wanting to go on an interview again.
Also, the girl had no interest in doing something nice for me. It was vey clear in her appearance and the way she presented herself that she wasn't the easiest person to be around.
What did I gain from it? Hopefully, if the recruiter tells the company, they will see that I am a loyal person and think that it was very wrong behaviour on the girls part.
