Hanukkah, December 1st

This year Hanukkah starts on December 1st which is also the start of the countdown to Christmas.
We're not religious per se, but I do like the stories and traditions behind both Hanukkah and Christmas, so we celebrate both.
The first night of Hanukkah we light the Menorah, sing a song, eat latkes and Kugel and play the Dreidel. On December 1st we light the calendar candle, watch the kids' calendar tv show and eat christmas candy.
However, this year it looks like we'll be doing nothing as Edinburgh has been hit by snow for 4 straight days and the grocery stores are empty. No milk, flour, eggs, butter, meat. Nothing. It's like the DDR back in the days.
This morning as I was walking the dog I saw the milkman and for a split second I thought about robbing him. Seriously, robbing a milk man.
Today we are venturing out to the castle to take some more award winning pictures..........once the storm dies down and we can actually see what we are doing!!
