Funny how fascinating numbers can be for children.
Kirsten insisted on being up at 1 am, 11 minutes and 11 seconds on 1 January, 2011.
We had just gotten home from a party, she sat in her bed and said,"I did it" and then she fell asleep.
The last 10 minutes of the old year was spent listening to her saying things like, "I'm not taking a shower until next year", "I promise to be good for the rest of the year" and so on.
This morning she climbed into bed with me, curled up and said "Glaedelig jul Mor" (Merry Christmas Mom). We then practised saying "godt nytaar" or "Godt nyt haar" which apparently is very funny when you're 11.
I couldn't think of a better start to a new year.
