Hunting for The Hoff

I can't explain my fascination with David Hasselhoff. Let's face it, he's not the greatest actor there ever was, sure he can carry a tune, but he's not exactly pop star material. He looked decent in the red Baywatch trunks and he did make me giggle with the whole cheeseburger incident.
So what is it?
Maybe it was Kit, the talking car......anyways, as you know the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is in full swing and Mr. Hasselhoff is in town doing a show.
I tried via Twitter to get him to stop by the shop, but to no avail. Then last night, it all changed.......
After having watched one of the most powerful performances all about The Falkland War and feeling rather dishevelled at the end of it, my friend and I decide to stop by the Pleasance to see if The Hoff was hanging out there. Of course he wasn't there, just your usual suspects having a pint pretending they're not there to spot famous people.
As we made our way to the back of the Pleasance on our way to see the magnificent Lillian Boutte' we hears lots of clapping coming from a building. Turns out it was indeed the Hoff just starting his show. My friend and I shrugged and did the "oh well, it wasn't meant to be" thing and then we turned the corner and what did I spy with my little eye? A not quite closed back door that was maybe perhaps leading to the Hoff.
And if the Hoff won't come to us, we come to the Hoff.
We step inside and can't believe there's no security guard. It's pitch black and everything is draped in backstage black sheets to give the illusion of walkways. A couple of more steps in and still no guard. I sneak up and see the audience to my left and realise then that the guard is watching the Show with his back to us. I look at my friend, she looks at me and I start walking. Actually it was more like a stiff"please don't notice me as I walk past in the most unnatural way possible' walk. We pass the guard and now we're behind the audience and still following the made up walkway. We see a sign for the toilets and I figure we can always just tell someone that that's what we're looking for. A guy is holding the door open to the toilets and makes a hand motion as to wave us through bu I simply turn the other way and BOOM!  The Hoff is 10 feet away from us, on stage singing some god awful song, but he's right there. We stayed for a couple of minutes and then decided to walk to the toilets to get out before we were spotted.
We walk outside and that's where the security was! All 5 policemen just standing there. We politely nod and then scurry off.
I have to tell you, it was really exciting and we spent the rest of the night saying "I can't believe we did that".
Even our kids thought it was cool. And embarrassing. As in "I'm mortified my mother did that, but I can't wait to tell my friends".
